Today is Labor Day and I hope you are all taking the opportunity to relax. Minnesotans work hard and today is a much-needed day off.

Labor Day is also the end of the State Fair. I was able to spend some time at the fair over the past two weeks and am sad to see it go. I love the fair because I love people – and there’s no better place to be with people than at the “great Minnesota get-together.” I spent all day Saturday at the DFL booth and had the chance to talk about all kinds of issues with all kinds of folks.

“We need you in Washington” is something I heard over and over again from people at the fair. People want someone who will stand up for every day Americans, and they know that I will do that. That’s why many people at the fair felt encouraged and hopeful when they heard that I announced my tax plan the day before. My plan will lift unfair burdens off of hardworking families by offering targeted middle-class tax breaks – without increasing the deficit. My goal in Congress will be to provide the middle class with greater opportunities for success, because I know that if we make the middle class strong, America will be strong. I am full of hope for America and I am excited about making it a better place for future generations.

Labor Day also marks the start of campaign season. My campaign is in full gear and I know that if we all work hard in the coming weeks, it will pay off on Election Day. I thank everyone for the work they’ve done so far, and I thank everyone in advance for the tremendous amount of work that I know they’ll do between now and November.

I have always said that when good people come together, amazing things happen. So let’s pull together now, work hard and fight the good fight, and on November 7, when we’re headed on the path to a better and brighter future, we’ll know that all of our hard work was worth it.

With hope,

sig
