Dear friends,
For nearly 3 years I've been blessed to be a part of something bigger than just myself; an effort of families, workers, seniors and young people and I am happy that you were a part of it.
Our campaign centered around an ideal that America derives its strength from a growing middle class and spoke to an ideal for Connecticut that would serve and protect that growing middle class - the families of Connecticut. We fought for universal health care. We fought to ensure that all children arrive at kindergarten ready to learn. We fought for energy, property tax and transit policies that support the middle class. And we fought for affordable tuition at our state universities and colleges.
While we did not deliver a majority at the polls last night, our values and ideals stand tall because anytime anyone fights for Connecticut's working families - we make one another stronger.
My congratulations, best wishes and prayers to Governor Jodi Rell as she embarks on a full term earned in her own right - she has earned all our support.
Today, the campaign ends - but our values, our ideals - they endure more powerfully, more brightly than ever before because of all of you. Thank you and stay in touch!
Very truly yours,
John DeStefano
